Portree Harbour Moments Shared By Our Guests

Central Skye Hotel with Island Character
Situated in the centre of Portree, The Rosedale places you minutes from cafés, shops, and local walks. Whether you’re here to explore the Cuillins, tour the island’s landmarks, or unwind by the harbour, our setting makes it effortless to experience Skye at your own pace. Walks home from the pubs and restaurants are easy, safe and quiet. By evening you’re back by the water, watching the sunset glow on Ben Tianavaig and the light fade over the boats.
The Rosedale occupies a series of former cottages carefully adapted into a small independent hotel. Its structure gives each space its own character while preserving the charm of the original buildings and their connection to the sea.
Seaview Hotel Rooms in Portree
Rooms are spread across three floors and vary in size and outlook — many with harbour views. All rooms include en-suite bathrooms, complimentary Wi-Fi, tea and coffee facilities, and everyday essentials such as hairdryers and towels. Fans and irons are available on request. Due to the building’s design, there is no lift, and all rooms are reached by stairs.
Our Place in Skye History
The Rosedale’s story stretches back to the early 19th century, when the buildings along Portree Harbour served as homes and workplaces for the town’s fishermen and tradespeople. The main hotel occupies three of these original cottages, built in the 1800s as part of Captain Beaumont’s crescent development on the seafront. Every stay here connects guests to a genuine part of Portree’s past — and continues to welcome travellers from near and far.
